So where do we stand? Hunter is finally out of the closet to everyone except the one person he cares about most of all. He seems to be doing reasonably well. But he came out later than many people do and now his last year in college is coming to an end pretty quickly.
What does he plan to do with his life? More immediately still, what does he plan to do with perhaps his last summer of freedom at home before going to work full-time?
This is something Ethan never really had to face, at least not the same way. At some point everyone realized he was going to be drafted and end up playing minor league baseball; and that’s what he’s been doing while Hunter has been off in college. Ethan’s been playing baseball in small town America, honing his skills, trying to climb the ladder that ends in the major leagues . . . but only if you’re good enough.
Hunter, on the other hand, has had more trouble figuring out what he wants to do in life. That’s not surprising, I suppose. Sometimes it takes multiple jobs and several years to figure out something like that. We’ll get a glimpse of what the future holds for Hunter in Chapter 28, which I’ve now posted. You can find it here.
